Choicer Voice Mic Not Working: Demo First, Then Checklist

If Choicer Voice is not recording your mic, run the free No Gameplay Demo first. Some devices never work. Then walk the checklist.

8/18/2026 Last updated: 8/18/2026

Current for store builds 0.5.1 and 0.5.2.

If the game is not recording your microphone, start with the official No Gameplay Demo. Some audio devices never work in this build, and the store already says so.

Run the demo before you buy

The official store ships a free No Gameplay Demo. Open it from the same itch.io page used on Choicer Voice Download.

If the demo cannot hear your mic, paying for the full game will not fix that device. Switch the audio device, or stop before you buy.

Do this in order:

  1. Confirm you launched the desktop Windows or Linux build, not a browser clone.
  2. Mute other people in the room.
  3. Open Record. Speak a short test line. Stop recording.
  4. If the take is empty, leave the game, switch the default input device in the OS, then try the demo again.
  5. If the take exists but one line dropped, use Clip again to replay the original line and record that sentence only.

Known unfixed recording bug

Some audio devices — including certain surround setups — never reach the game. That engine-side bug is not fixed. The store tells you to test with the demo for this reason.

If every device you own fails the demo, this page cannot give you a hidden setting that unlocks those devices.

It records, but playback is quiet

A take can land and still sound soft on playback, even with the playback slider high. That is a mix issue, not proof that the mic failed. If the take is there, keep going through Dub Mode.

FAQ

Why did recording cut out in the middle of a line?

The session can drop your voice mid-take. Re-record that line with Clip again. Do not restart the whole clip unless several lines failed.

I already bought it. Do I still need the demo?

Yes, if you want a clean test without a full session. The demo is the store’s own mic check.

Does build 0.5.2 fix the mic?

The store still lists the recording bug next to the current packages. Treat 0.5.1 and 0.5.2 as the same rule: demo first, then the checklist.
